As the lead designer for the NC State University Admissions recruitment brochures, my goal was to create a design system that:

  • Engages the reader by showcasing bold photography with succinct copy bursts,

  • Follows the same visual patterns as the responsive web design of the NC State site, ensuring a cohesive user experience,

  • Can be easily updated by any designer on the team, streamlining future production timelines.

I collaborated with the Admissions Communications team to innovate the transportation and distribution of materials at college fairs, including international travel.

Working closely with the production vendor, I optimized the “travel” brochure’s physical footprint. The goal was to pack more units into lighter, smaller boxes to simplify the recruiters’ logistics. This solution gained the Admissions team’s approval.

I designed a versatile “shell” that holds various informational flyers customized for each audience. The “shell” functions as an informative folder. And it unfolds into a poster showcasing a map of the Research Triangle area highlighting potential employment opportunities.

The new collateral materials offer a captivating and consistent experience aligning with the university’s digital presence. The redesign eased customization and distribution, particularly for international recruiters. The bold look ensured the materials would stand out among competitors and improved initial touchpoints with prospective students.
